Englert, who currently holds the position of computer science department chair at Norfolk State University in Virginia, will bring a wealth of experience to his new role.

With previous leadership roles at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, California State University Long Beach, and the University of Northern Colorado, Dr.
Englert is well-versed in cybersecurity, machine learning, distributed computing, distributed algorithms, and transportation network modeling and optimization.
His impressive background makes him a valuable addition to Seattle U’s faculty.

Amazon’s Support and Recent Developments

Amazon’s support for the Department Chair position began in 2021, following the departure of the university’s former computer science chair, Roshanak Roshandel, who left for a role at Amazon.

Englert will take over from Steve Hanks as the incoming computer science department chair.
